In human trials
Stem cell therapy and plasma exchange
Replacing cells or diluting old blood factors; early trials show signals, not proof.
How it works
Mesenchymal stem cell infusions are studied for anti-inflammatory and repair signaling. Therapeutic plasma exchange removes plasma and replaces it (for example with albumin), testing the idea that circulating factors drive aging.
Hallmarks of aging targeted
Stem cell exhaustion · Altered intercellular communication · Chronic inflammation
What the evidence says
Honest about what is proven, and what is not.
A randomized phase 2b trial of laromestrocel (donor bone-marrow stem cells) in 148 people with frailty improved 6-minute walk distance by 63 m vs placebo at 9 months, though the 6-month result was not significant (Cell Stem Cell 2026). In 42 healthy adults over 50, plasma exchange improved epigenetic aging clocks versus placebo (Aging Cell 2025), and in the AMBAR trial of 347 patients, plasma exchange slowed functional decline in mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s (2020). These are investigational uses with small or early trials.

Considering this for yourself?
Many longevity therapies are experimental, off-label or not FDA-approved for aging. A physician-guided evaluation weighs your labs, history and goals before anything is started.
